Jerusalem is a divided town. Despite the division, everyone seems to get along pretty well. Salem sounds alot like Shalom, which means peace. It also means hello. And goodbye. And prosperity. And probably a whole host of other things. Yesterday I ran my first race EVER. Like really. I did ok, considering it was Jerusalem. I ended up with about a 7 and a half minute mile. A camel can trot that quick and keep a smile.
Jeff Hanson is a beast. He hadn't ran since before the holidays and he comes up behind me and slaps my butt on KM 7 and yells "NO PAIN!" Aint gunna lie, I was hurting pretty bad already. Jeff is one of my favorite people. He has a libertarian mind, and he loves everyone. If I could give a massage like him, I think I wouldn't even have to go to school. He served his mission in England and says things like mate, loo, and fetch.
One of my favorite scriptures is Isaiah 54:13 "And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord and great shall be the peace of they children." I had a great discussion the other night. It basically revolved around my failed life plans, and what I was going to do to correct it. With a little fuel the conversation evolved to the ideal lifestyle and characteristics of a wife. I'll save my opinion for another time, and give you the male unchauvinistic ideology of what success is. My conclusion: being a good father/mother.
The Family

I have two examples of the best fathers ever. God the Father, and Abraham. Abraham was da man cause his covenant contains 3 things:
1. Priesthood
2. Posterity
3. Property
Those are the three things every father needs to provide to his children. An identity of who they are, understanding the importance of their posterity and providing the temporal necessities for their family. God the Father does the same spiritually, but also helps correct our behaviors through gentle chastisement and generous blessings.
My question is what is most important of the 3 parts of the covenants. Is posterity more important than priesthood? Or is property more important than property? Every father seeks to provide something to his children, but the best father gives all three at the right time in the right amount. God, our Eternal Father, gives eternal Priesthood, eternal Posterity, and eternal Property to each of His children who is worthy.
