Today I was talking to my friend Jeff. Before I tell what we are talking about, I should probably explain our history. I met Jeff at dinner one night, and I ain't gunna lie, I was weirded out cause it was the first time I met someone more radical than me. He was explaining to me how he was a libertarian to the extreme and I thought, dang, this guy really is nuts. It wasn't until he started giving people backrubs that I realized that yeah, this kid might be alright. '
Give the story a few weeks. We're walking to a museum and Jeff starts telling me the story of Uriah and David complete with symbolism and passion. I realized that not only is this kid crazy, but he is brilliant. And brilliant in the way that I'm brilliant. Finally a friend I can relate to.
So we get into this conversation today about governments. Basically the gist of it was that the social contract is stupid because it inherently prevents us from using our agency. In layman's terms, we don't get to choose our citizenship upon birth, it is assigned to us. As we continued to talk, we came to the realization (or at least I did) that the eternal laws will force us to make the most important decision of our premortal, mortal, and postmortal lives - whether or not we want to accept the government of God and enter into His social contract; i.e. the gospel.
God's invitation is always extended to us. We extend our blessings by accepting His invitation.
